WEEK OF DECEMBER 04 - 08

MONDAY:

Warm Up: None
Classwork: 1.) Introduce Vocabualry #6 terms and explain the related written assigment:

Write a holiday-related article for a small-town newspaper or magazine. Your story may be realistic or fantastical. The newspaper article.must be written in 3rd person. However, the magazine article may be written in either 3rd or 1st person. Your story may be factual, suspenseful, sentimental, humorous, etc. Be creative! Your article must have answer the 5 W’s: who - what - when - where - why or how. Be descriptive by using details and specifics. Remember, this should be a “fill-in-the-blank story so leave blanks where the vocabulary words are supposed be. Create a numbered answer key on a separate sheet of paper.

Homework: Work on vocabulary #6 written assignment which is due Thursday.

TUESDAY:

Warm Up: Read “Make the Connection” (119) and complete the cluster map as directed.
Classwork: Introduce and read “The Moustache” (139-146). Then take related “Check Test.”
Homework: Work on vocabulary #6 written assignment which is due Thursday.

WEDNESDAY:

Warm Up: None
Classwork: Read “Meet the Writer” (147). Then complete “Reading Check” ?’s A - D and “Making Meanings” ?’s 2-8 (149) in CRS. Turn in by period’s end. Class discussion of story to follow.
Homework: Work on vocabulary #6 written assignment which is due Thursday.

THURSDAY:

Warm Up: Complete word puzzle on overhead.
Classwork: Take story quiz over “The Moustache.” Working in groups, use the vocabulary #6 written assignments to review this week’s words.
Homework: Study for Friday’s vocabulary #6.

FRIDAY:

Warm Up: Complete story-related “Daily Oral Grammar” on overhead.
Classwork:
Take vocabulary #6 quiz. Then review story elements found in “The Moustache.” Introduce character if time.
Homework:
None
