WEEK OF DECEMBER 11 - 15

MONDAY:

Warm Up: Brainstorm memories associated with your childhood. Write down people, places, events, objects, sights, sounds, smells, etc. List at least 20 things.
Classwork: Introduce “Where I’m From” poem. Write original rough draft and turn in by period’s end.
Homework: None

TUESDAY:

Warm Up: How do you think children feel when their parents are labelled as “poor” or “on welfare” or “homeless” or “charity cases?” Write a 1/2 page paragraph explaining how you think they might feel or how you might feel it you were in their shoes.
Classwork: Introduce and read “Christmas” (179-181) in the blue Elements of Literature book. Then take related “Check Test.” Answer ?’s 1-12 in CRS (182). Turn in by period’s end.

WEDNESDAY:

Warm Up: Complete holiday word puzzle.
Classwork:  Read aloud holiday play, “The Day the War Stopped” (12-21) in READ magazine
Homework: None

THURSDAY:

Warm Up: None
Classwork:  Read aloud holiday play, “Elves on Strike” (24-31) in READ magazine.  If time, read the short story “Guardian Angel” (5+) in same magazine.
Homework:
None

 

FRIDAY:

Warm Up: Return rough drafts fo “Where I’m From” poems.
Classwork:
Begin watching Christmas on Division Street.
Homework:
FINAL FORM OF “WHERE I’M FRO” POEM IS DUE MONDAY!
