MONDAY:
DR. KING HOLIDAY!!
TUESDAY:
Warm Up: Review writing tools: Replacement of general nouns, empty adjectives, linking verbs, and passive voice.
Classwork: Return last week’s essay about free time. Underline in red, all words and portions of your essay which could be made more specific or powerful. Then complete related revision chart. Due Wednesday.
Homework: Read you independent novel. (NOVEL TEST FEB. 5th.) You MUST have your novel in class this Friday so that I may approve it.
WEDNESDAY:
Warm Up: None
Classwork: Review and take notes on “6 Ways to Write an Introduction.” Then write two new introductions for your “free time” essay. Each introduction should use a different one of the six types of introductions discussed in class. Turn in by period’s end.
Homework: Read you independent novel. (NOVEL TEST FEB. 5th.) You MUST have your novel in class this Friday so that I may approve it.
THURSDAY:
Warm Up: Complete “Make the Connection” and “Quickwrite” (19). Classwork: Compile survey results and share responses. Read and discuss the remainder (19). Read “Mrs. Flowers” (20-23). Take related “Check Test.” Then answer ?’s 1-7 (25) in CRS. Turn in by period’s end.

FRIDAY:
Warm Up: Read “Meet the Writer” (24)
Classwork: Finish ?’s 1-8 and “Reading Check” (25). Answers should be in CRS with the exception of the chart necessary for the “Reading Check.” Turn in on the wall when completed. Sign up for independent novel test. Use the remainder of class to read novel.
Homework: Read you independent novel. (NOVEL TEST FEB. 5th.)
