WEEK OF JANUARY 29 - FEBRUARY 02

NOTE: Novel tests will be taken on Monday, February 5th. Students must read a book found on Ms. Allen’s book list. This assignment was made on library day, January 3rd.

MONDAY:

Warm Up: Check last Friday’s “Gotitus” verb activity.
Classwork: Review similes and metaphors and introduce personifications. Complete both sides of personification handout on notebook paper.
Homework: Continue reading book report novel. Novel test will be taken on Monday, February 5th.

TUESDAY:

Warm Up: Introduce voc. #8 terms and explain memory cards: Create 12 cards, one for each vocabulary term, by writing/drawing each word so that it illustrates its meaning. Look at the examples on Ms. Allen’s chalkboard for a reminder of how to create your cards. Due Thursday.
Classwork: Discuss and collect yesterday’s personification handout.   Illustrate an original personification.  It may be one you wrote for yesterday’s assignment or one you newly create for this.  Illustration must be full-page and full-color.   Your sentence must be written neatly in dark marker.  Due tomorrow. (quiz grade)
Homework: Continue working on voc. #8 cards if necessary. Due Thursday. Continue reading book report novel. Novel test will be taken on Monday, February 5th.

WEDNESDAY:

Warm Up: List 20 abstract nouns. Abstract are nouns that cannot be seen such as love and hate. No you may NOT use these two in your list of 20!! : )
Classwork: Take quiz over understanding the meaning of personification.   Introduce and write descriptive paragraphs of personified qualities. Final form due Friday.
Homework: Continue working on voc. #8 cards if necessary. Due Thursday. Continue reading book report novel. Novel test will be taken on Monday, February 5th.

THURSDAY:

Warm Up: Complete review of similes, metaphors, and personifications on overhead.
Classwork: Review vocabulary terms using cards. Watch film: Literary Devices and take notes.  Read and take notes on 41-42 of literature books.
Homework: Study voc. #8 terms for Friday’s quiz. Finish writing descriptive paragraphs of personified qualities if necessary. Final form due Friday. Continue reading book report novel. Novel test will be taken on Monday, February 5th.

 

FRIDAY:

Warm Up: None
Classwork: Take vocabulary #8 quiz. Collect final forms of descriptive personified qualities paragraphs.
Homework: Continue reading book report novel. Novel test will be taken on Monday, February 5th.
