WEEK OF MARCH 26 – 30

MONDAY:

Warm Up: Clear you desk of everything.
Classwork: Discuss TCAP test-taking strategies. On notebook paper, complete Benchmark Test #6. Introduce and begin reading aloud the radio play “The Wolf” (16-23) in READ magazine.
Homework: None

TUESDAY:

Warm Up: Review for TCAP/discuss next novel test
Classwork: Continue reading aloud the radio play “The Wolf” (16-23) in READ magazine. Complete the following written assignment which is due in final form by next Monday, April 2nd:

Write an original humorous radio skit. It should make use of one of the three literary devices from the plays we read in the READ magazines: HYPERBOLE used in “We Really Had It Tough,” SPOONERISMS used in “Prinderella and the Pransome Hince,” and SATIRE used in “The Wolf.” Your final form should be a minimum of 1 typed page or 2 handwritten pages. It should be written in the format of a radio script. Include a cast of characaters. If stage directions or sound effects are necessary, remember to place them in parentheses. Remember, that dialogue should reflect how characters speak not how they write.
Homework: Begin working on original “radio skit.” Final form due on Monday, 4/2.

WEDNESDAY:

Warm Up: Copy film notes outline from overhead.
Classwork: Introduce film and watch Elements of Drama. After the film. class will review and discuss notes that were taken.
Homework: Conitnue working on original “radio skit.” Final form due on Monday, 4/2. Also, get started on you independent book for the final novel test to be taken Tuesday, 4/24.


THURSDAY:

Warm Up: Have you ever been falsely accused? How did it make you feel? Write about a time when you were wrongly accused of something. Perhaps you once wrongly accused another person – - how did you feel? Explain how it affected you relationship. (1/2 p. minimum)
Classwork: Introduce and begin reading aloud “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” (534 – 546) in Moments.
Homework: Conitnue working on original “radio skit.” Final form due on Monday, 4/2. Also, get started on you independent book for the final novel test to be taken Tuesday, 4/24.

FRIDAY:

Warm Up: Clear you desk of everything.
Classwork: Continue reading aloud “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” (534 – 546) in Moments.  Take related “Check Test.”  Complete ?’s 1 – 9 (handout) in CRS.
Homework:

WEEK ON MARCH 19 – 23

MONDAY:

Warm Up: Clear you desk of everything.
Classwork: Introduce and begin reading aloud the play “A Raisin in the Sun” (4-15) in READ magazine.
Homework: None

TUESDAY:

Warm Up: Read the Langston Hugh’s poem, “A Dream Deferred.” Explain what you believe the author was saying about dreams, and then explain why you think Lorraine Hansberry chose “A Raisin in the Sun” as the title of her play.
Classwork: On notebook paper, complete related ?’s 1-7 and written response (handout). Turn in when finished.
Homework: On notebook paper copy the drama terms and their definitions from the “Rapping It Up” handout. Then, on a separate sheet of paper, # 1-20 and write the answers for the fill-in-the-blank rap.

WEDNESDAY:

Warm Up:  Collect “Rapping It Up.”
Classwork: Read and listen to the 1942 radio play “Sorry, Wrong Number” (560-571) in Moments.  Complete a plot peak for the radio play.
Homework:
None

THURSDAY:

Warm Up:  Discuss the plot peak for the radio play.
Classwork: Working in pairs, complete the related ?’s for “Sorry, Wrong Number.”  Class dicsussion of story to follow.
Homework:
None

FRIDAY:

Warm Up:  Prepare for quiz over “Sorry, Wrong Number.”
Classwork:  Take quiz over “Sorry, Wrong Number.”  Take notes from a cassette on dialogue.   Read “Prinderella and the Pransome Hince” and “They Think They Had It Tough” () in READ magazine.

MONDAY:

Warm Up: Create a “Top Ten” list of dangerous games. Remember that danger comes in many forms: physical, financial, mental, etc.
Classwork: Introduce and begin reading “The Most Dangerous Game” (64-80) in Moments.

TUESDAY:

Warm Up: Discuss story thus far.
Classwork: Continue reading “The Most Dangerous Game” (80) in Moments.
Homework: None

WEDNESDAY:

Warm Up: Complete a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting Genreal Zaroff and Ivan.
Classwork: Finish reading “The Most Dangerous Game” (64-80) in Moments. On notebook paper, answer study guide ?’ 1-22 in CRS. (handout) Homework: Continue working on study guide.

THURSDAY:

Warm Up: Complete a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting Genreal Zaroff and Rainsford.
Classwork: Working with a partner, arrange stroy events on a plot peak. Discuss “The Most Dangerous Game.”
Homework: Continue working on study guide if necessary. It’s due tomorrow for a grade. Story quiz tomorrow also.

FRIDAY:

Warm Up: Listen to foreshadowing cassette and take notes.
Classwork: Take a story quiz over “The Most Dangerous Game.”
